Alex Dunmow 8c1da68375 feat(editorial): bundled-font @font-face + typography refs, required_icon_packs, reshoot in real serif
Declare @font-face for the bundled Playfair Display + Source Serif 4 faces
against /templates/editorial/fonts/*.woff2 and point every preset's
typography.fontHeading/fontBody at template:editorial:<Family> so
--font-heading/--font-body resolve to the bundled serifs (gotham@1.2.0
precedent; CMS BundledFonts is dead code). Declare required_icon_packs
[lucide, simple-icons] for the sprite pipeline. Recapture the 6-shot gallery
(home/about/article x light+dark) now that the serif actually renders.

Editorial

A reading-first theme built around a serif baseline grid and a generous measure. Light mode is warm book paper with dark ink. Dark mode drops to a low-glare charcoal with sepia type for late-night reading. Drop caps, running marginalia, and small-caps labels do the design work, so the writing leads and the page stays quiet.

Good for

We built Editorial for people who write at length. Treat these as starting points, not limits. If the mood fits your brand, use it:

  • Personal essayists and columnists
  • Independent newsletters and subscriptions
  • Longform blogs and reported features
  • Author and portfolio sites

What you get

  • Four color presets, each with a tuned light mode and a tuned dark mode: Book Paper, Sepia Review, Legal Pad, and Nightdesk.
  • Playfair Display for headings and Source Serif 4 for body text, both bundled and ready. Fonts stay admin-controlled, so you can swap them from the typography settings.
  • Four persona blocks: a drop-cap essay opener, running marginalia side notes, a reading list, and a field-notes aside.
  • A demo site that installs when you activate the theme: a home page, an about page, a blog with three essays, and a contact page whose form emails your admins. It comes seeded as a newsletter called The Margin, by Frances Hale.
  • Every core block restyled to match, plus a themed login screen and a themed 404 page.

Install

Install from the BlockNinja registry, then pick a preset and assign your fonts in the admin. Activate the demo content if you want a fully dressed starting point.
